The Kobo Daily Deal, Hollow City: The Second Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, is a dollar less at Amazon, where it was a Best Book of the Month in January 2014, than from Kobo. The main Kindle Daily Deal, Sand, is another excellent post-apocalyptic novel from Hugh Howey (not set in the Silo or Shift world). Add in the 3-volume Z 2134 series and the true-adventure tale of the 1810 Astor Expedition, Astoria by Peter Stark, and you should have enough reading to keep you up all week. If those aren’t your style, there are a couple of YA novels, a bestselling romance and an excellent cookbook to choose from today, as well.
Today on Amazon’s Gold Box, save up to 45% on Select High Sierra Backpacks . In the Bonus Deal of the Day, save up to 33% on Select BlenderBottle Products (lots of colors to choose from!).
For those in the UK, the Kindle Daily Deal today has several novels from Ian Rankin’s Inspector Rebus series.
Today’s Kindle Daily Deal is Sand Omnibus ($1.99), by Hugh Howey [indie/Broad Reach Publishing].
Book Description
The old world is buried. A new one has been forged atop the shifting dunes. Here in this land of howling wind and infernal sand, four siblings find themselves scattered and lost. Their father was a sand diver, one of the elite few who could travel deep beneath the desert floor and bring up the relics and scraps that keep their people alive. But their father is gone. And the world he left behind might be next.Welcome to the world of Sand, the first new novel from New York Times bestselling author Hugh Howey since his publication of the Silo Saga. Unrelated to those works, which looked at a dystopian world under totalitarian rule, Sand is an exploration of lawlessness. Here is a land ignored. Here is a people left to fend for themselves. Adjust your ker and take a last, deep breath before you enter.
About the Author
Hugh Howey spent eight years living on boats and working as a yacht captain for the rich and famous. It wasn’t until the love of his life carried him away from these vagabond ways that he began to pursue literary adventures, rather than literal ones. Hugh wrote and self-published the Wool trilogy, which won rave reviews and praise from readers, and whose three books have gone on to become international bestsellers. He lives in Jupiter, Florida, with his wife Amber and their dog Bella.
