Happy Feet Dance - Neverland Dance Show Registration
This semester the high school dance performance class is creating another combined dance show, Neverland, with students from ECC, elementary, middle school, and high school. We would like to invite our ECC and elementary students to be part of this show through our Happy Feet Dance Program this semester.
If you were here last year, it was our first year of experimenting with a full school combined show and we presented, "The Nutcracker". We would like to invite our ECC and Elementary students to be part of this show Neverland, based on the classic tale of Peter Pan. We will be teaching our participating ECC and Elementary dancers pieces that will be performed in our show on November 18, 19, 20 and 21.
The program will run over 9 weeks including our tech week and show week. Participating students will be required to attend two full cast rehearsals and perform in the shows. Due to the interest and the large numbers that we had involved in our previous show, The Nutcracker, we will be splitting our ECC and Elementary students into 2 casts. This means that they would only perform in two of the shows, but in much smaller groups. We will need to limit each character group to 40 total, which will split into two groups of 20.
All rehearsals will run on Saturday mornings, September 12, 19, 26, October 3, 10, 31, November 7. With extra dress rehearsals on November 14 and 17.
Groups and Characters:
Boys in ECC to Grade 1 will be crocodiles and dance with the Hip Hop Croc (our version of the Tick-tock Croc). Their rehearsal will be 11am - 12pm in S200.
Boys in Grade 2 to Grade 5 will be crocodiles and dance with the Hip Hop Croc (our version of the Tick-tock Croc). Their rehearsal will be 11am - 12pm in S201.
Girls in Preschool and Pre-K are invited to be children in the opening scene that dance with the Darling Children, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. Their rehearsal will be 9am - 10am in S201.
Girls in Kindergarten and Grade 1 are invited to be fairies and dance with Tinkerbell. Their rehearsal will be at 10am - 11am in S201.
Girls in Grade 2 and Grade 3 are invited to be mermaids at mermaid cove in Neverland. Their rehearsal will be 10am - 11am in S200.
Girls in Grade 4 and Grade 5 are invited to be pirate and dance with Madame Hook (all of our pirates are girls). Their rehearsal will be at 9am - 10am S200.
Cost:
The cost of the program this semester will be more than it was last year due to the increased costs for running a production of this size that only became apparent at the end of last year's production. This included the cost of costumes, additional make up, hair spray, ticketing, printing costs, and adult supervision backstage for all shows and dress rehearsals. Happy Feet is a program that the high school dancers run to raise money to support their high school dance shows. The money they raise also contributes to the social service they do with children through World Vision. The cost for participation in this production will be $200. Dancers will keep their costumes after the production. Payments can be made in cash or by cheque made payable to Singapore American School at the first lesson/rehearsal.
