Daily Deals 08/31/15

Well, I’m back in Tennessee! Three days in Michigan, then four states in one day with rainy and late driving, but we made it. It’s even still summer here, it seems, as we drove down into 90+ temps from the very cool upper Michigan coast where it just hit around 70. Seems we made it just in time for Amazon’s Big Student Sale, too. For the Nook Daily Find, we have a WWII thriller by James Douglas and the first two novels in Sarah J. Maas’ excellent Throne of Glass YA Fantasy series; I read the first one for review and bought the next two. The fourth in the series, Queen of Shadows, is being released in a few days.

Today’s Kindle Daily Deal is Up to 90% Off Over 425 Books for Students. This is their big back-to-school annual sale and there are always books that appeal to more than just “students”. I’ve picked out a few that look interesting already and will be investigating more this afternoon, while we get things unpacked.

Today on Amazon’s Gold Box, save 60% on a Panasonic Home Monitoring System (Woot). In the Bonus Deal of the Day, save up to 50% on Select Mountain House Freeze-Dried Food (cans and 48- and 72-Hour Emergency Kits).

Today is the last day to take advantage of these deals:

The Kindle Deals of the Day for those in the UK has several good selections today, including Kimberley Chambers’ Payback (£0.99 UK), which is going for $18 here in the US.

Daily Deals 08/30/15

The Nook Daily Find today features a trio of best-selling mysteries, while Amazon has 10 of M. C. Beaton’s mysteries on sale today, so it looks like a good day to fill in a few holes in the library. B&N has a Bonus Find today also, a 3-novel fantasy boxed set under a dollar. Kobo has a single thriller, but it’s a good one (that I just checked out of the library, after a long hold). Be careful searching for the Dorothy Sayers’ book on your device, as it finds a different edition than the one from Open Road (and perhaps not a legal one) and watch out for the on by Dorothy Salisbury Davis, as neither B&N nor Amazon has dropped the price on that one, yet.

At Audible, we have a Pulitzer Prize-winning classic by Pearl Buck, with a great narrator. At Amazon, the Daily Deals are rounded out with a military romantic suspense novel, a great zombie book by Mira Grant (I bought the entire series after reading it for the Hugo Awards.
